“The Yokoyama Memorial Manga Museum opened on 7 April 2002, in memory of Yokoyama Ryuichi, a cartoonist and Honorary Citizen of Kochi City, who became the first Japanese cartoonist to be recognised as a Person of Cultural Merit. Drawing on invaluable material donated by Yokoyama himself, the aim of this museum is to showcase his life, his works, and his zestful, boyish spirit.”
