Madonna of the Seafarers, Hamburg

“The ‘Madonna of the Seafarers’ (Madonna der Seefahrt) is a bronze statue in Hamburg, Germany, dedicated to those lost at sea. It’s located at the Altona fish market, also known as St. Pauli Fischmarkt. The statue, sculpted by Manfred Sihle-Wissel, depicts a woman gazing seaward, symbolizing the sorrow and loss experienced by families of sailors. It was erected in 1985.”
