Images of Milan, Padova and Verona in Italy, taken in April 2014.

“Milan is the second-most populous city in Italy, the first considering the metro area, and the capital of the Lombardy Region. The city proper has a population of 1.3 million, whilst the Milan metropolitan area has a population of over 4 million.

“Padova (English: Padua) is a city and comune in the Veneto, northern Italy. It is the capital of the province of Padua and the economic and communications hub of the area. Its population is about 214,000. It is the setting for most of the action in Shakespeare’s ‘The Taming of the Shrew’.

“Verona is a city straddling the Adige river in Veneto, northern Italy, with approximately 265,000 inhabitants. It is the second largest city municipality in the region and the third of northeast Italy. The metropolitan area of Verona has a population of 714,000 inhabitants. It is one of the main tourist destinations in northern Italy, owing to its artistic heritage, several annual fairs, shows, and operas, such as the lyrical season in the Arena, the ancient amphitheatre built by the Romans.”
